Hemerocallis   Europa e.V.

Website Concept

Spinne In Lachs (Tamberg, 1986)
Concepts influencing this website can be divided into two areas:
  • contents
  • design

Content related concepts (not really present in previous HE-website versions):
  • propagate and show the European made daylilies by having cultivar pictures in the upper right corner with a link to its hybridizer's HE page
  • structure the menu into appropriate topics and sub-topics
  • alphabetical site-map shows same entries under different common terms
  • additional general infos like history, biology, hybridizing, USDA zone map and glossary

Design related concepts (not present in previous HE-website versions):
  • fast loading also for slow modem connections, no longer a long homepage and also no picture menu
  • easy to use menu (also for older persons), easier/faster to find things; menus with sub-topics indicated by arrow on the right side, by clicking only the menu expands with its sub-menus (rest of the page remains until a sub-menu-item is chosen)
  • easy to add new menu items and sub-items (only few files need to be changed, no unflexible menu picture)
  • stylesheets in order to have a more consistent website
  • energy-saving by dark background (also better for the eyes, but disadvantage of screen surface reflections); but should print okay (i.e. it should not print a black page)
  • language can be changed independant on which page one is (but it goes back to homepage)
